Job Onboarding

An interactive onboarding explainer that turns the first three months in a new role into a clear sequence of practical tasks, introductions and development milestones.

This prototype combines animated vector scenes with concise supporting copy and playback controls. It explores how motion can communicate a process while allowing viewers to pause, revisit a step and see what comes next.

Project context

Making the first 90 days easier to understand

Starting a new role means learning new systems, meeting unfamiliar people and understanding expectations at the same time. This concept explores how an animated explainer can give new starters a clear view of the journey ahead.

The prototype brings practical tasks, social introductions, supported project work and review conversations into one sequence. The aim is to make onboarding feel manageable, with a clear next step and a reminder of who can help.

Content structure

A journey built around milestones

The experience follows a chronological sequence, from the initial welcome and first-day setup through to the day-90 review. Fifteen short scenes divide the journey into specific moments, each supported by a heading and a concise explanation.

Practical foundations

Laptop access, payroll, benefits and security basics establish the essentials before the focus shifts towards collaboration and delivery.

People and progression

Team introductions, a buddy, feedback conversations and mentoring make support visible throughout the journey.

Visual exploration

Using motion to explain each step

A consistent visual language connects the scenes: a navy canvas, white typography and teal, yellow and plum accents. Simple vector illustrations translate abstract ideas into recognisable objects, including a laptop, an ID badge, a checklist and a network of colleagues.

Staggered reveals introduce information in a deliberate order. Drawn paths connect people and milestones, while growing bars and completed checkmarks communicate progress. Motion supports the message within each scene.
